Find out about the port’s commitments & actions
In Port-Vendres, sustainable development is practised on a daily basis. Armed with the creation of the Gulf of Lion Nature Reserve in 2011, the port is committed to an approach which aims to reduce energy consumption and develop responsible sailing. Its clearly established plan of action is further enhanced every year.
Invest in a clean port
The port aims to half its energy consumption by 2027, so 20 years ahead of the Low-Carbon Strategy and Paris Agreement obligations.
It will offer the three-phase (32A, 63A and 125A) dock connection possibility from 2025.
Awareness-raising and protection operations
Many awareness-raising actions take place every year:
joint operations such as Tous sentinelles ! (All sentries!) with the CPIE (Permanent Centre of Environmental Initiatives) Bassin de Thau in Frontignan, Agenda 21 with the municipality
dedicated operations such as the cigarette butt recovery awareness (billposting and collection) campaign « je navigue je trie » (I sail I sort) for the Gestes Propres (Clean Gestures) Association, the « Uni Pour Un Port Propre » (United for a Clean Port) cleaning operation or the port’s annual submarine cleaning operation
Protecting the ecosystem is also practised on a daily basis:
launch of the used fishing net recycling network
monitoring of juvenile fish using the Biohut installation
complying with the Gulf of Lion Nature Reserve specifications
