Visit the surroundings of Port-Vendres
An area of heritage with wonderful spots and a charming coast, the port of Port-Vendres provides access to locations that are both preserved and magical. Whether you are sporty, a nature lover or passionate about culture, you will find what you are looking for regardless of the time of the year.
Côte Vermeille
Incredible colours! The reflections from the shale rock at dawn and at sunset give their name to Côte Vermeille. The wild coves surrounding the port contain their secrets carved by the Mediterranean. Paulilles and Cap Béar next to the Port of Venus (origin of the name Port-Vendres) provide you with their enigmas dating back to antiquity.
The 3 spots to explore
Anse de Paulilles
Listed site, managed by the Pyrénées-Orientales Departmental Council, Anse de Paulilles is situated South of the port. Surrounded by the vineyards of Banyuls-Collioure, it is one of the most beautiful beaches of the coast.
Cap Béar lighthouse
Proudly overlooking the shale coasts of the Pyrénées, the Cap Béar lighthouse is situated on the eponymous cape, 800 metres South East of the port. Classified as a historic monument in 2012, you will soon be able to visit it.
Fort Saint Elme
A military fort built in the 16th century under Charles Quint from a Moorish guard tower, Fort Saint-Elme is located 3km North West of the port. Reformed by Vauban, do not miss his viewpoint!
